Resources for providers

NDIS registration means you meet specific requirements as a provider, including the NDIS code of practice. Registration is not compulsory for all providers, but it is required if you want to work with NDIA managed participants and deliver certain types of higher risk supports. Unregistered providers can still work with plan managed and self-managed participants. To become a registered provider, you must complete an application, go through an audit and be assessed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. NDIS providers cannot access a participant’s plan directly. To understand their funding and supports, you will need to speak with the participant, their nominee or support coordinator. With the participant’s consent, you may also discuss relevant funding details with their plan manager. It is important to always obtain the participant’s permission before discussing their plan with any third party.

If a participant’s funding is running low or fully spent, the plan manager will notify both the participant and the provider. To help avoid service disruptions, it is important to regularly review funding usage and service agreements with the participant.

If funding for a particular support category or period is exhausted and there is no flexibility or rollover available, future invoices cannot be processed or paid under that plan. Providers should always confirm funding availability before delivering ongoing supports.
