As part of its ongoing efforts to limit its impact on the environment, nib Group (nib) today announced its commitment to making its operations carbon neutral by the end of financial year 2022.

In addition, in an effort to reduce overall emissions, nib will move to 100% renewable energy procurement by the end of financial year 2021 for all nib-controlled locations ..

“We recognise that the quality of the natural environments in which we live such as air and water quality, biodiversity and climate stability are crucial to the health and wellbeing of our stakeholders,” said nib Managing Director, Mark Fitzgibbon.

“The devastating effects of global warming on our natural environment are very real. Going carbon neutral and reducing our emissions impact is the right thing for corporates, like us, to do to ensure our planet remains habitable for generations to come,” he said.

Aligned to the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard, nib will seek to invest in domestic projects to achieve its carbon neutrality based on the emissions identified in its financial year 2021 environmental and waste assessment.

“We continue to implement changes across our business to reduce our emissions such as improving waste practices, as well as encouraging our members and shareholders to play their part through greater take-up of e-communications,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.
