nib takes health cover global for Aussie expats

Global cover for Aussie expats

Australians planning to live and work overseas will now be able to access international health insurance through nib with the launch of the new nib Expatriate Health Insurance cover.

The cover will provide expatriates and their families with the ability to maintain their health and wellbeing as well as covering medical emergencies while living overseas.

nib Group Executive International & New Business, David Kan, said that unlike travel insurance, the new Expatriate cover meets the comprehensive medical needs of customers either residing or on a long-stay overseas.

"Many people assume that travel insurance is all they will need when they go overseas not realising that it is really only designed for short term trips and generally for medical emergencies," Mr Kan said.

"For overseas stays longer than 12 months international health insurance such as nib Expatriate Health Insurance provides additional peace of mind that not only medical emergencies are covered but also non-emergency services including GP visits, dental and physio," he added.

With the launch of the long-term health solution for Aussie ex-pats, nib now provides high quality cover for customers wherever they are in the world. The product complements nib's suite of health insurance covers for Australian and New Zealand residents, international students and workers, as well as travel insurance for people heading overseas short-term.

Mr Kan said with the introduction of nib Expatriate Health Insurance nib now provides Australian organisations a complete health solution for all their employees.

"We believe the addition of this new cover will be particularly attractive to companies with an international workforce as they can now partner with nib to provide a holistic range of quality health covers for their employees. Whether their workers are based here in Australia, both permanently or temporarily, or if they are working overseas, we have a solution that meets their healthcare needs," Mr Kan said.

Developed in collaboration with AXA PPP International, the nib Expatriate Health Insurance range is now available for customers. For more information visit www.nib.com.au/expathealth, opens in a new tab or call 1800 941 012.
