International Visitors: How do I find a doctor?

Use our search tool to find a doctor near you

Australia’s healthcare system is one of the best in the world.

While international visitors cannot access Medicare, which is funded by the government to help with the costs of doctor’s (GP) visits and other medical services, certain health cover requirements ensure that you can stay safe and healthy while in Australia.

That’s why nib has built a wide network of health providers and specialists, so you can get the care you need without paying high out-of-pocket costs.

What’s more, getting to a doctor is easier than ever with nib’s telehealth GP consultation service. Telehealth appointments allow you to see a GP by phone and are a great way to receive care from the comfort of your home.

Telehealth GPs can help you with many common illnesses, issue prescriptions, provide medical certificates, and offer general health advice. You can even make a telehealth appointment directly from the nib App, opens in a new tab.

You can also choose to see a GP in person. Use our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool to search nib’s network of health professionals in your area.
