nib foundation appoints new board member

New board member nib foundation

nib foundation has welcomed nib health funds (nib) Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Michelle McPherson, to the Hunter-based charitable organisation's Board of Trustees.

Michelle joined nib in 2003 as the health fund’s Chief Financial Officer and has been a strong supporter of nib foundation since its establishment in 2008. She has served as the foundation’s Company Secretary for more than eight years and in that time has gained an intimate understanding of the organisation.

In addition, she brings a wealth of experience to the Board with more than 30 years in financial positions and chartered accounting, including senior roles at Caltex Australia.

Mrs McPherson said she is looking forward to the new role and continuing to help the foundation to improve community health and wellbeing outcomes by funding innovative programs that meet the needs of young people and carers in a practical and engaging way.

“I have a strong affiliation with nib foundation having been involved since its humble beginnings and am a strong advocate for helping those most vulnerable in our community to improve their health outcomes,” Mrs McPherson said.
“It’s an exciting time for the foundation in the lead up to the 2016 Community Grant recipients being announced.

I’m looking forward to seeing the successful candidates deliver the range of exciting and worthwhile projects that will support the health and wellbeing needs of communities across the country,” she added.

Michelle is an active member of the Hunter community, serving as a Director of the Hunter Research Foundation and Hunter Valley Grammar School, as well as being a member of the Council of the University of Newcastle, Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Newcastle and a member of the University of Newcastle Foundation Advisory Board.

The 2016 Community Grant recipients will be announced shortly. For more information about nib foundation visit nib foundation, opens in a new tab.
