nib is your partner in healthy weight management

We’re with you every step of the way on your weight management journey, giving you the tools to be your healthiest self, inside and out.

What should I consider before I start?

Medical history and existing health conditions

Book with your GP for a weight loss check. They’ll help you explore safe and appropriate options that fit your health, lifestyle and goals.

Your weight management goals

Whether it's weight loss, maintenance, or overall health improvement, setting specific goals with a healthcare professional can boost motivation and help track your progress.

Long-term health

Choose options that support long-term success and lasting results rather than offering quick, temporary fixes that may not benefit you long-term.

Potential side effects

Understanding the potential adverse effects of some treatment options helps in making an informed decision and preparing for any necessary adjustments.

Cost and cover

Consider not only the best option for your health, but also that you have the right cover to support your journey.

Your support network

Friends, family or professional guidance can help keep you accountable and motivated in reaching your goals.

Check your physical health

Step one is to check in with your doctor for personalised advice about your goals. The best way to do this is through a weight loss check with your GP.

Your doctor will calculate your body mass index (BMI) by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared. They may also measure your waist circumference to assess your weight, muscle mass, fitness levels and get an understanding of your lifestyle and dietary habits.

You can also use nib’s free online health check to gain more personalised health insights and recommendations from reliable sources you can trust.
