Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We know we're greater than the sum of our individual parts and are committed to celebrating differences.

Our mission and vision is people enjoying better health. We believe feeling included for who we are and being empowered to be our authentic selves is essential to wellbeing and living a fulfilling life.

Our vision is to foster a sense of community where everyone is welcome, contributes and belongs.

If you have any questions or feedback about our approach to DEI at nib please email the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team at diversityandinclusion@nib.com.au, opens in a new tab.

Turning commitment into action

We recognise there are many dimensions of diversity and are committed to ensuring our inclusion efforts resonate with our employees and the communities in which we operate. Our pillars of focus have been guided by our people who have shared their stories and experiences for our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan. These pillars include:

  • Culture and Heritage

  • Accessibility

  • Gender and Sexuality

  • Inclusion Enablers

As a trusted partner in helping our members, participants and travellers make more informed healthcare decisions and transact with healthcare systems, we recognise the barriers faced by people living with disability and are committed to influencing cultural change to improve their lives. This plan demonstrates our commitment specifically to people living with disability and those who are neurodiverse.

We believe we all have a role to play in reconciliation. We're committed to creating an inclusive and diverse community and work environment in which everyone is treated fairly and with respect, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In October 2020, we released our first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan in consultation with Reconciliation Australia.

People & Culture Manager

“Individuality includes experience, technical skills, soft skills, mindset, culture, gender, sexuality, language, religion, accessibility needs, carer responsibilities and so on. This is true also for our members and our community. So, diversity really is just the norm isn’t it?”

Kelly Grace

Head of Product & Insights - nib Travel

“It’s about creating an environment where people feel comfortable being their authentic self; it’s treating every person we work with at nib with mutual respect and dignity – and encouraging us all to share those values with our families, friends and communities.”
