Population Health
We’re looking to partner with different communities to improve short and long-term health outcomes on the journey to better health.
Population health focuses on reducing health inequities and is “the health outcomes of a group of individuals, including the distribution of such outcomes within the group.”
For us, it’s about developing and investing in broad community-based programs, which aim to control and limit disease, improve health literacy and overall population health, with a focus on preventative health measures.
Our journey in this space in Australia has only just begun, but we have already had great success through the first of its kind program with Auckland hapū, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.
Already helping 3,000 iwi members improve their health and wellbeing outcomes, our program with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei provides free universal customised private health insurance that covers surgical and non-surgical hospitalisation, specialist consultations, diagnostic procedures as well as assistance with every day health costs like visiting a GP, dentist or physio.
We’ve also worked with the tribe to develop new health management programs and additional benefits for traditional Māori treatment such as Rongoā Māori, to support better health outcomes for their whanau (family).
Health Management Programs
We offer a range of health management programs, opens in a new tab at no additional cost to our eligible members to help them be at their healthiest. The programs are tailored to our members needs, improving their physical or mental wellbeing, keeping them out of hospital or simply helping them get into shape!
nib foundation
Our charitable organisation, nib foundation, opens in a new tab, has been working for over 10 years with local communities and charities to support programs which are helping thousands of people make a positive and lasting improvement to their physical, mental, and social wellbeing.
Supporting the better health of the Bourke community.
While Australia is generally known to have great healthcare, we recognise that health outcomes vary, especially for rural and remote communities.
There are a number of known health, societal and economic challenges, opens in a new tab facing many rural and indigenous communities, all of which are at play in the Bourke Shire. We see a real opportunity to make a difference in this community through support of a better healthcare system.
We’re currently exploring opportunities to support the residents in the Bourke Shire in collaboration with local stakeholders, hoping to help locals live healthier and happier lives both now and into the future.
Collaboration is key, which is why our first steps are to work with the local residents, existing service providers and community groups about what is needed to keep their community healthy.
Above all, we have an unreserved commitment to do no harm and are here for the long-term as we seek to drive change.
We look forward to sharing more with the community as we continue our work in the region.
