nib MediGap

If you’re a medical specialist, you can register to become a MediGap provider. When you choose to participate in MediGap for a procedure, you agree to charge nib members No Gap or a Known Gap of up to $500 for their inpatient service. Participating in MediGap offers your patients greater cost certainty while helping you streamline your practice management and meet patient needs. 

  • Doctors, anaesthetists and specialists are able to register for MediGap. 

  • You have the flexibility to choose to participate in MediGap on a case-by-case basis. 

  • Receive faster payments directly from nib without having to chase patients for payment of their invoice. 

  • In most cases, the MediGap benefit, opens in a new tab is higher than the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) benefit. 

  • Plus, you’ll be listed in our Find a Provider, opens in a new tab tool.

GapSure Anaesthetists

nib’s GapSure Anaesthetics network offers anaesthetists competitive rates that are higher than most competitors in the market. This network also provides nib members with greater cost certainty when it comes to claiming and managing out of pocket costs.  

  • The nib Gapsure Anaesthetics network is available to providers registered with Medicare as an anaesthetist only.

  • The nib GapSure Anaesthetics network applies a single uniformed value of $43 per unit on all MBS Item numbers with ASA RVG unitisation.

  • The nib GapSure Anaesthetics network is not discretionary. You must charge a No Gap on procedures with below five RVG base units. Once registered, the network Schedule of Benefits applies to all your nib patients. 

  • You can charge a discretionary Known Gap up to $500 per episode on MBS procedural item numbers with five and above RVG base units. 

  • The GapSure network operates with its own Schedule of Benefits, offering a uniform $43 per unit for all MBS item numbers with ASA RVG unitisation.  

  • Plus, the network covers all locations you work from.
