nib is the preferred insurer for the Australian Government’s Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme, supporting members since 2009.
Our goal is to help our members within the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme, opens in a new tab (PALM) achieve better health and wellbeing by reducing hospital and medical costs while living in Australia.

Citizens of Vanuatu in Australia wanting information about the situation in Vanuatu or who need support to contact family or friends in Vanuatu are encouraged to call the Vanuatu High Commission Infoline on (02 6282 9931).
Country liaison officers from Vanuatu have set up a Facebook page called PALM scheme Notis Pod, opens in a new tab and are posting updates on the situation in Vanuatu there.
The Vanuatu Government National Disaster Management office is also posting updates on its official Facebook page, opens in a new tab.

PALM support nurse
Have any worries or questions about your health? Our PALM support nurse service is here to help. Just give your nib policy number when you call, and you’ll be 100% covered.
Our nurses are your first contact for health issues. They can:
Assess your symptoms
Provide immediate medical advice
Book a GP appointment if needed.
We can also connect you with an interpreter or have a support person call the nurse on your behalf.

Telehealth is available from:
Monday-Friday 9am-5pm AEST
Closed: Saturday, Sunday and national public holidays.
Nurses cannot issue prescriptions, medical certificates or emergency help. For these services you can use our GP telehealth service, or please call 000 if your situation is an emergency.
Christmas and New Year Closure
The PALM Nurse Support Line will be unavailable from 21 December to 5 January. The line will open as normal on 6 January. If you require medical assistance during this time, you can access our GP Telehealth service through hub.health, opens in a new tab. For emergencies, call 000.

Offering support to welfare teams and workers through community engagement, health information, preventative welfare initiatives and critical incident management.
Symptom Checker
Members can confidentially analyse their symptoms using our AI-driven tool in the nib App. Just answer a few questions and get guidance on when to seek medical attention based on the seriousness of the symptoms.
